Preparing a house for sale can be a daunting task, but it’s essential to present your home in the best possible light to attract potential buyers. Here are some things you can do to get your house ready for sale:
1. Clean and declutter: A clean and clutter-free home is more appealing to potential buyers. I always tell my sellers, most buyers can’t see past the end of their noses. So clean every surface, including floors, carpets, walls, and windows. Remove excess clutter and personal items that can make the home look smaller and less inviting (plus it means less packing once the house is actually sold)!
2. Repairs and improvements: Fix any damaged or broken items such as leaky faucets, cracks in the walls, and broken tiles. Consider making any necessary improvements such as replacing old light fixtures, repainting walls, or replacing outdated appliances. Buyers tend to do a reduction list when they see things to be done.
3, Staging: Consider staging the house to help potential buyers envision themselves living in the space. This can involve rearranging furniture, adding decor, and even bringing in new furniture if necessary. I have a wonderful stager that I use and we have always had incredible results. A complimentary assessment is included for my clients too.
4. Curb appeal: The outside of the home is the first thing potential buyers see, so make sure it looks inviting. Cut the lawn, clear away any debris, and consider adding some plants or flowers to make the home look more attractive. A fresh coat of paint on the front door is a good idea too.
5, Price competitively: Listen to your real estate professional with what’s happening with the local housing market to determine a competitive price for the home. Pricing too high can deter potential buyers, while pricing too low can result in a lower return on investment.
6. Hire me: With over 20 years of experience, I can help with pricing, marketing, and showing the home to potential buyers. My experience can help you navigate the selling process and get the best price for your home.
